/ What the CP42 inspection covers
A CP42 is the commercial catering equivalent of a landlord's gas safety record. Environmental health officers, insurers, landlords and franchisors all expect to see a current one, and it's the document that proves your kitchen's gas installation has been inspected by a suitably qualified engineer in the last 12 months.
We inspect every appliance, test the pipework for tightness, check the gas interlock works with the extraction and that the ventilation is adequate for the appliances installed. Anything that fails is reported clearly with a price to fix — and we can usually do the work on the same visit so you're not left without a certificate.
The engineer who signs your CP42 holds the commercial catering (COMCAT) qualifications that non-domestic work requires — check any engineer's Gas Safe ID card for these before letting them sign.

/ Questions we get asked
Straight answers. If yours isn't here, call — it's quicker than a form.
Is a CP42 a legal requirement?
Employers and operators have a duty under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations to keep gas appliances and installations safe, and an annual inspection by a qualified engineer is how that's evidenced. EHOs, insurers and landlords will ask for a current certificate.
How long does the inspection take?
Typically one to two hours depending on the number of appliances. We work around your prep and service times.
What if something fails?
We report it on the certificate and quote the fix. Immediately dangerous appliances have to be isolated — we'll do that, and put it right as fast as possible.
Do you also do the interlock and extraction?
Yes — interlock testing, repairs and new installations, and we can advise on extraction to DW172.
Ready when you are.
